Meet Monica and Fredrik, the Swedish couple behind Villa Belle Olivia. The first time they laid eyes on this charming bastide in Le Val, they knew—it was home. It had everything they dreamed of, and by early 2024, they had moved in.
Their journey to Provence began in 2017, when they sold everything in Sweden and traded Nordic lifestyle for sun-soaked days, olive groves, and the richness of French living. And of course, there’s Sebastian—their beloved French Barbet, adopted from the Flayosc animal shelter. Wherever Monica and Fredrik go, Sebastian follows.
With years of experience running vacation rentals and B&Bs in both Sweden and France, they now open their authentic Provençal villa to guests during the summer season. Warm, welcoming, and full of character, Villa Belle Olivia is not just a place to stay—it’s a place to feel at home.

Belle Évasion
A mother–daughter story, rooted in Provence
Belle Évasion is the passion project of Monica and her daughter Mikaela—two women with shared dreams and complementary talents.
“Having your mother in the South of France makes you visit a lot,” Mikaela laughs. Her love for the region’s nature, wine, and culture runs deep. With years of experience in the hospitality industry across various countries and roles, Mikaela also brings her creativity to Belle Évasion as a freelance graphic designer and the visionary behind the brand’s visual identity.
Monica brings her own depth of experience as a longtime entrepreneur, certified Pilates consultant, and wellness coach. She has led retreats in Sweden and Italy, and collaborated with the renowned Michelin-starred restaurant Daniel Berlin Krog.
Together, they blend passion and professionalism to create meaningful, beautifully curated events in Provence. After years of dreaming, they finally made it happen.
